Wolf from the Wilds

Other than ranting about economics on my blog, I also like to take pictures. This blog is all about that. I would like to share the photos that I have taken that I think are worth sharing, if just for friends to have a place to go to to see them. Hope you enjoy it!

Continuing with my experiments with strobes, here are a few more shots which I took over the last few days.

Strobist Experiments

Today, I decided to use my wife Lanie as a subject of many strobist tests.  The location was my living room.  Here are some of the better results:

There is a lot of considerations when using multiple off camera speedlights.   And I will be experimenting more with them over the coming weeks.  I love portrait shots, and this is the first time I get to play around with lighting to see the effects I can create.

Off Camera Strobing

I decided to try something new.  I went to Shum Sui Poh, the electronic centre in Hong Kong and picked up a couple of Chinese strobes, light stands, umbrellas and reflectors to try out some off-camera strobing at home.   The models are my wife, an orange, and my dogs.

Bali Sunsets

I was in Bali last August when I took these shots of the famous Bali Sunset.

Playing around with HDR

Another HDR shot from the weekend.  It is quite interesting the effects you can achieve using the HDR Pro function in Photoshop.  This was compiled from 5 bracketed shots of a nondiscript shed.

Inaugual Post:

Hi all. In case you are looking for the economics blog, you ended up in the wrong place (go here: http://viewfromthewilds.blogspot.com/). But if you are looking for a place to see some nice photos and links to what who I think are inspirational photographers, you have come to the right place. To start the ball rolling, I thought I can share a couple of photos I took over the weekend in Tai-O here in Hong Kong. They were my first attempts at HDR. I hope you enjoy them.
